Three Chances to Hear Michael Wise

Michael O. Wise is Scholar-in-Residence and Professor of Hebrew Bible and Ancient Languages at the University of Northwestern–St. Paul, where he has taught for twenty-four years. He earned his B.A. at the University of Minnesota, a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Chicago), a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Judaica at the University of Chicago, and a second Ph.D. in Classics (Greek and Latin languages and literatures) at the University of Minnesota. Rev. Dr. Wise has produced eight books and over 100 scholarly articles and book reviews. His most recent book is Language and Literacy in Roman Judea (Yale, 2015). He is an internationally recognized expert on the world of Jesus, most particularly on the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bar Kokhba texts. He enjoys bringing the ancient world to “life” as he lectures on the scrolls in many different venues. Ordained as a minister in the Evangelical Free Church, Rev. Dr. Wise has taught for nearly twenty years at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, where he and his wife Cathy regularly teach adult classes and have for several years led the Midweek Bible Study.
