Friends University names Damon Young as executive-in-residence

Friends University has appointed Damon Young as an Executive-in-Residence in the Division of Business. Young’s primary responsibilities will include mentoring students from the Division of Business and developing additional opportunities for students to connect with, and contribute to, the local business community. Young will also serve as a guest lecturer for business classes and provide support for students pursuing business careers.

Young, the current Chief Business Officer at the Kansas Leadership Center, is an engaged participant in both civic and business circles in Kansas and served as the 2022 Chair of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce. Young holds a degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Friends University, where he actively contributes to the President’s Advisory Council.

Young added, “My vocational journey has taught me to integrate my faith and my work and to celebrate stewardship and skill as offerings of worship to God and service to others. I am thankful for the opportunity to share my experiences and perspective with the students, faculty and broader Friends University community. I believe in Dr. Carey’s vision and I hope to play a small part in leveraging the Friends University community as a force for good.”

Young has been happily married for over 20 years and has five children, ranging from young adult to elementary school. In his spare time, Young enjoys taking long walks, reading, listening to podcasts, writing poetry and playing basketball. Additionally, his daughter, Anne Young, is a ‘23 Friends graduate, and Young’s son, Daniel, will be joining the Falcon family this year.
