Dr. Paul Smith, Friends University assistant professor of applied music/voice, will perform a voice recital on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. The theme is “Sacred Drama.”
Many of the most dramatic Biblical stories have been set to music in Operas, Musicals, Oratorios or Cantatas. Dr. Smith will perform works that present figures from the Old and New Testament as well as works from Latin Masses. Haydn, Handel, Gounod, Mendelssohn, Verdi and Puccin. Dr. Smith will be accompanied by Vanessa Whalen.
The recital will be held in Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center at Friends University, 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan., and is free and open to the public.
