Friday, May 8, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. the Friends University Ballet Department will present the Chorography Showcase in Sebits Auditorium.
This year’s program will feature 10 new student-produced works created by the Friends University Ballet Department’s Junior and Senior classes; danced by members of the Friends University Ballet Department.
The Choreography Showcase is the culmination of two semesters worth of choreography classes taught by Stan Rogers, where students learned about the variety of techniques and tools that can be used in creating a choreographic work.
The program will feature a wide range of live and recorded music including composers Max Richter, Ludovico Einaudi, Johan Johannson, YouTube Sensations “The Piano Guys” and Fredric Chopin. Dance styles will range from modern dance to contemporary ballet with chorography driven by stories, emotion or exploration and manipulation of movement.
The Choreography Showcase will be held in Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Building on Friends University Campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan., and is free and open to the public.
