The Friends University Theatre Department will present “Wait Until Dark” on October 22-24 at 7:30 p.m., and October 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cornerstone Studio Theatre.
A recently blinded woman is terrorized by a group of thugs who have stashed a hand-made doll filled with heroin in her Greenwich Village apartment. Posing as an old friend, a police detective and a father and son duo, the small-time hoods concoct an elaborate plan to draw her husband away so that they may retrieve their precious prize, and take advantage of her affliction. Suspicious of their intentions, the young woman with the help of young friend manages to turn the tables on them and make them compete with her on her level, alone in the dark.
Following the success of the Broadway Play in 1966, this tense thriller was adapted into a feature film with Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin and released in October 1967. The film has been voted as one of the 100 scariest endings of all time.
The performance will be held in the Cornerstone Studio Theatre inside the Riney Fine Arts Center located at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. Tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased by calling 316-295-5677, online or at the door.
