Friends University Theatre will presents “The Diary of Anne Frank” March 10-12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. and March 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cornerstone Studio Theater.
“The Diary of Anne Frank”, is a recent adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, from the original stage play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. Taken from newly discovered writings and survivor accounts from the time period, this inspiring drama depicts the impassioned story of the lives of eight Jewish individuals who hide away in a storage attic during World War II, to avoid persecution from Nazi rule. This new adaptation confronts the horrors of the Holocaust in a moving and emotional manner while honoring those who held out hope against an inhuman and dark force that sought to dominate the world of that day.
At the center of this sensitive, stirring and engaging production is the ever optimistic and intensely, endearing young heroine whose writings and musings are just as relevant today. “The Diary of Anne Frank” is a special and memorable piece of history that captures the fear, hope, laughter, grief and dignity of a young girl who longed to leave her mark on society and culture. This new adaptation pays tribute to the young author who has inspired generations since her passing over 70 years ago.
The performance will be held in the Con on Friends University Campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. Ticket prices are $11 for adults and $9 for seniors and students.
