Friends University will host a Final Friday Reception with works by Jessica Goode on Friday, February 24, 5-7 p.m.
Goode, originally from Chanute, KS, graduated from Chanute Christian Academy in 2009. She transferred to Newman University and obtained her Bachelors of Fine Art in 2012. While attending Newman University, she studied drawing, painting and ceramics.
After graduating, Goode worked at the Wichita Art Museum for over two years and recently began working at Paint the Towne.
Goode’s artwork focuses mainly on nonrepresentational abstract painting.
“My beginning pieces created through this technique were experimental,” said Goode. “Throughout the years and many failed paintings, I have taken the action-painting style and made it my own. After learning how to work with the paint to create different designs on the canvas, I can now take my knowledge and create paintings with emotion.”
The reception will be held in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery at Friends University, 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. The reception is free and open to the public.
