Wichita, KS – Friends University presents the Singing Quakers Home Concert, There is Sweet Music, March 11, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. and March 12, 2017 at 2 p.m.
The 70-voice Friends University Singing Quakers present There is Sweet Music, performing music from their annual tour. The concert will include traditional classics by Franz Josef Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn, as well as contemporary works by Stephen Pauls and Sven-David Sandstrӧm. Also featured will be To Music, a new work composed by Friends University student Ehan Hartung.
“This concert taps into the full range of the sound and spirit of the Singing Quakers,” said Dr. Mark Bartel, associate professor of music; director of choral music. “There is a wide variety of musical styles, texts and choral textures which showcase not only individual composers and lyrics but the possibilities of the human voice and the limitless potential of music itself.”
The performance will be held in Sebits Auditorium on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. Ticket prices are $16 for adults and $13 for seniors and students.
