Damon Young, vice president of Mahaney Roofing Company, will discuss the book “Gospel Patrons” at 7 p.m. April 6. The event is part of Friends University’s “Those Who Lead, Read” program, a monthly speaker series that engages students and the Wichita community in a timely discussion about literacy and leadership.
The event is free and open to the public and will take place at Edmund Stanley Library on the Friends University campus. Friends is hosting various leaders in 2017 to discuss their favorite books on leadership, faith or organizational change.
Young will discuss John Rinehart’s book, “Gospel Patrons,” which includes stories about people from history who changed the world through their generosity.
Young has served on numerous boards and committees, including House of Hope Wichita, Wichita Chamber Government Relations, Kansas Chamber Board, and the President’s Advisory Council at Friends University.
Young and his wife, Kate, recently started a nonprofit organization called the Meeting House in Sedgwick, Kan. Their new coffee shop ministry gives the community members of Sedgwick a safe environment to relax, host community events, and promote art and cultural events.
As vice president of Mahaney Roofing Company, Young leads his organization’s business and community development efforts. He has a degree in organizational management and leadership from Friends University.
