Wichita, KS- The Friends University Ballet will present its Spring Ballet March 9 at 7:30 p.m., March 10 at 7:30 p.m., and March 11at 2 p.m..
The event will feature two guest choreographers. The first is Los Angeles choreographer Francisco Martinez. Martinez is the artistic director of Francisco Martinez Dance Theatre, the director of the dance program at Occidental College in Los Angeles and ballet master at Dance Conservatory of Pasadena. He is a frequent and beloved guest choreographer at Friends University where he began this journey in 1993.
The second guest choreographer is Courtney Miller, graduating senior at Friends University. Her presenting piece, Frontiers, is a neo-classical dance open to many interpretations. Miller is excited to debut her second group piece with Friends University Ballet.
The Spring Ballet will also feature Stan K. Rogers, director of the Friends ballet department.
The performance will offer many styles of choreography to the compositions of Oliver Davis, Philip Glass, Luis Mars, Ottorino Respighi, Esperanza Spalding and Stevie Wonder.
It will take place in Sebits Auditorium on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, and $12 for seniors and students.
