Friends University’s Global MBA program will host several leaders in a panel discussion from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24.
The event, which will be focused on international banking and trade, is free and open to the public and will take place in Room 126 of the Olive White Garvey Business and Technology Building at Friends University.
Panel members will include:
- Sarah Braden, international trade supervisor at INTRUST Bank, will cover the topic of “What is international banking?”
- Ray Garvey, adjunct faculty member at Friends University and board member of the Mid-America District Export Council, will discuss the importance of international marketing skills for increasing the profitability of a local company.
- Karyn Page, president and CEO of Kansas Global Trade Services Inc., will discuss the value of international trade for Kansas and the national economy.
- Steve Shaad, international market manager at BG Products, will share his story of his route to his current job in a private homegrown company.
“We are pleased to present this panel of experts so Wichita professionals can learn more about the importance of international business for their companies,” said Dr. Valentina Chappell, professor of business technology and program director of Global MBA. “The world economy requires U.S. companies to hire professionals educated in international business. A combination of the Global MBA major (six courses including a 10-day business residency abroad) and one of our business concentrations (four courses) creates additional value for our alumni in the job market.”
