Friends University and the Apprentice Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation will host a variety of Christian speakers at The Apprentice Gathering Oct. 25-27, 2018, on the Friends University campus. The focus of the conference will be “Journey: Living Deep in the Kingdom.”
“This conference is for you, no matter where you are in your faith journey,” said Dr. James Bryan Smith, founder and executive director of the Apprentice Institute, associate professor of religion at Friends University, and the Dallas Willard Chair for Christian Spiritual Formation at Friends University. “The Apprentice Gathering is a community of believers learning to complete the journey of life and striving to do it well.”
The conference will begin Thursday evening and run through Saturday afternoon. A pre-conference intensive option is scheduled during the day on Thursday.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Greg Boyd, internationally recognized theologian, preacher, teacher, apologist and author; J.R. Briggs, founder of Kairos Partnerships and pastor of The Renew Community; Dr. James Bryan Smith, professor at Friends University; Dr. Ken Shigematsu, pastor of Tenth Church in Vancouver, B.C.; and Dr. Lauren Winner, professor at Duke Divinity School.
More than 500 attendees from all walks of life, including pastors, ministry leaders and the laity, are expected.
