Wichita, Kan. – The Friends University Jazz Department will present a Jazz Swings Western Style concert Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium.
The Cherokee Maidens with Sycamore Swing will be the special guests for the show taking place over Homecoming weekend. After an opening set with the guest group, the Friends University Jazz Vocal Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble I will give their jazz-inspired interpretations of tunes by Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and others.
“All the performers will be wearing western apparel,” said Lisa Hittle, director of jazz. “Audience members are encouraged to join in the fun and wear western clothing as well.”
Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium in Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan.
