Friends University’s Homecoming will be Friday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct. 7, and will feature a variety of events, including alumni reunions, a tailgate, carnival, football game and a western-style jazz concert.
All Friends University alumni and other members of the Friends community are invited to an alumni tailgate and carnival Saturday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the parking lot north of Adair-Austin Stadium. Falcon Football will play against Bethany College at 3 p.m.
Alumni reunions will take place Friday with 50th and 60th class reunion activities from 1 to 5 p.m. in Casado Campus Center. Friends will host a dinner and awards ceremony Friday night at 6 p.m. for the Distinguished Alumni and Athletic Hall of Fame awards. Distinguished Alumni being honored include Major Erik Nott, M.D., James Gregory Gross and David and Mae Kellum. 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees include Doug Bacon, Anthony Evans, the 1968-69 men’s basketball team and the 1977 men’s golf team.
The Friends University jazz department will feature a “Jazz Swings Western Style” concert with special guests The Cherokee Maidens and Sycamore Swing Saturday night at 7:30 in Riney Fine Arts Centers’ Sebits Auditorium. Attendees are encouraged to dress in western dress. Adult tickets are $12 each with discounts for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at https://friends.edu/finearts/.
The Singing Quakers will finish out Homecoming weekend with Singing Quakers Heritage Sunday at 10 a.m. at the University Friends Church, 1840 W. University Ave.
