Wichita, KS- Friends University has received second place in the division II level of competition with the National Opera Association for last year’s production of “The Mikado.”
The competition is split into eight categories based on a point system from small to large. Points are awarded for level of the principal singers, size of cast and orchestra, and production budget. Then 24 judges spend hundreds of hours reviewing all the applicants.
Dr. Matthew Schloneger was the opera’s Music Director. Rolaine Hetherington was the Stage Director, and Kurt Priebe was the Technical Director.
“This was our first submission to the National Opera Association’s Opera Production Competition, and I am so thrilled for the national recognition that demonstrates the great work that is being done here at Friends,” said Dr. Schloneger.
