Friends University staff, faculty and students will be celebrating 26 years of working together to make Christmas merrier for hundreds of needy families in Wichita.
Approximately 150 University representatives will embrace the spirit of the season for the annual Salvation Army Service Day Dec. 10. The group will help prepare and disperse donated gifts.
“With service being one of our values at Friends University, we are excited to partner with the Salvation Army to help the community,” said Dr. Amy Bragg Carey, president of Friends University. “As faculty, staff and students volunteer, we are sharing the light and love of Christ to the community. We are happy to continue our annual tradition of volunteering with the Salvation Army’s Wichita Mission of Hope campaign.”
The University community will sort toys and gifts, decorate the Salvation Army distribution center, wrap gifts and assist with the organization’s Angel Tree and Star of Hope programs.
Friends University, a Christian University of Quaker heritage, equips students to honor God and serve others by integrating their intellectual, spiritual and professional lives.
