Friends University to present spring musical, The Secret Garden

Wichita- The spring musical, The Secret Garden, will take place Friday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. at Friends University in Sebits Auditorium.

The musical is based on the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett featuring the unlikely friendship of cousins Mary Lennox and Collin Craven within the confines of an enchanting hidden garden. The Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon musical is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Last year’s spring production was honored with the second place award in the National Opera Association’s division II competition.

“We set a high bar with The Mikado, but have every intention on pushing it even higher with The Secret Garden. It is sure to be a fantastic show you will not want to miss,” said Matthew Schloneger, musical director and conductor for the show.

Rolaine Hetherington will return as the stage director and Kurt Priebe as the technical director.

Tickets are $11 for adults, and $8 for seniors and students. They may be purchased online at friends.edu/finearts, or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.
