English faculty members Dr. Vicki Ronn and Dr. Kassia Waggoner will host a Summer Creative Writing Camp for eighth to twelfth grade students this summer from 1 to 5 p.m. June 17-21 on the Friends University campus.
Students will create a writing portfolio of five different forms of poetry and one short story during the camp. With permission, the students’ work will be published in a special edition of The Mews, the online literary magazine at Friends.
The camp will end with a ceremony where participants will read their work to their family and friends who attend.
Cost for the camp is $200 per participant and includes a T-shirt, snacks and creative writing materials. The deadline for registration is June 10. A portion of the proceeds will go toward scholarships for incoming English students.
