Wichita, KS – On Monday, April 1, the Concert Band will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium, Riney Fine Arts Center at Friends University.
Rachelle Goter, Friends University adjunct faculty, will be featured as the clarinet soloist for the World Premiere of “Diversions for Clarinet and Wind Band” by Robert Spittal.
“This is a newly commissioned piece, and Friends University is one of about 10 universities to premiere this fun work. Each of the five movements is in a completely different style and fun for the players and audience alike!” Goter said.
The second half of the performance will be a salute to America and Kansas with songs such as “Across the Great Plains” by William Owens and “America the Beautiful” by Samuel Ward, arranged by Carmen Dragon.
Tickets are $6 for adults, and $3 for seniors and students. They may be purchased online at friends.edu/finearts, or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.
