Friends University is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Dale Heidebrecht as the university’s new visiting choral director and Singing Quakers director. Dr. Heidebrecht will officially start at Friends in August 2019.
“I am honored to build upon the exceptional music legacy at Friends University and excited to return home to Kansas,” said Heidebrecht.
Dr. Heidebrecht earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Wichita State University, his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Choral Conducting and Literature.
Prior to being hired at Friends, Dr. Heidebrecht taught at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas where he directed a variety of choirs and taught choral courses.
For over 30 years, Dr. Heidebrecht has been active in church as a singer, choir director and conductor. He has directed operas, musicals and plays. He has performed as an actor and singer in operas, musicals, plays and concert choirs across the midwest. As a music educator, Dr. Heidebrecht’s greatest joy is watching his students succeed in the classroom, in school and in their personal lives.
