Wichita, KS- Friends University is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Lillian Green as the university’s new community orchestra director, assistant professor of strings and director of strings.
“I’m looking forward to joining the fabulous faculty at Friends University and working with the students and the Community Orchestra,” said Dr. Green.
Prior to being hired at Friends University, Green taught at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and before that at a variety of schools out East. As a violist, she performs frequently and has played concerts across Europe and southeast Asia. Recent performances include solo and chamber concerts as a faculty member of the Orfeo Music Festival in Vipiteno, Italy; recitals with the Central Kansas Piano Quartet; various alternative styles performances with the Woodfest Collaborative String Quartet; and a chamber recital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dr. Green earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Viola Performance and a Master’s degree in Music Theory Pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Previously she earned a Master’s degree in Viola Performance from the University of Delaware, and her undergraduate degree in Music Education is from West Virginia University, where she had a triple emphasis in viola, violin, and piano.
