Wichita, Kan.– Friends University will host a First Friday gallery reception for abstract expressionist artist, Charles Baughman. The reception will take place in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery in Riney Fine Arts Center Sept. 6 from 5-7 p.m.
The exhibit is titled Splatterscapes. “I love to explore nature; walk in the woods, dig in the dirt, splash in the water. My current body of work, Splatterscapes, expresses my experiences and feelings about the natural world around me without the use of paint brushes. As I experiment with the paint, what emerges are drips, drops, splatters and smears that come together as landscapes,” Baughman said.
Baughman will also host an artist talk and demonstration on Sept. 18 at 1-2 p.m. in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery. Both events are free and open to the public.
Splatterscapes will be on display until Sept. 28.
The exhibit is sponsored in part by KMUW, Wichita’s National Public Radio member station.
