Wichita, KS – The Friends University Concert Band will present its winter concert on Monday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature music of composer-in-residence, Dr. Chris Sharp.
Dr. Sharp is an acclaimed professional musician, composer/arranger and educator. His extensive career includes writing music for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, the Boston Pops and the Dallas Brass, among others.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Sharp on campus to work with our concert band and music majors. Our students will be able to gain a unique look into the commercial music world through their time with Dr. Sharp,” said Director of Bands, Shawn Knopp.
In addition to compositions written and arranged by Dr. Sharp, the Friends University Concert Band will also perform several standards from the concert band repertoire including Howard Hanson’s Chorale and Alleluia, Holst’s First Suite in Eb and Erickson’s Toccata for Band.
Tickets for the concert are $6 for adults and $3 for seniors and students. The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium in Riney Fine Arts on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan.
