Wichita, Kan.– Friends University will host a First Friday gallery reception for painter, Richard Davies. The reception will take place in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery in Riney Fine Arts Center on March 6 from 5-7 p.m.
Richard Davies has been painting since 1975 in oils and watercolor. His paintings have been sold to collectors around the world. He was accepted into the Top 100 Painters Show in 1998 judged by the curator of the Frick Museum. He has been honored to have The Wichita Art Museum, the Fisch House, Jones Gallery and City Arts host solo shows. Reuben Saunders Gallery currently represents Mr. Davies.
“My work strives to find the objective correlative within the everyday physical experience of our lives. Every object, every being holds an emotional resonance that may be different for each viewer but is there nonetheless. I strive to capture that exact combination of form, color and line that transmits that emotional experience. To be affected by our world means we are just human—a good thing, we hope,” said Davies. “I’m honored to be part of Riney Art Center’s ongoing commitment to the arts.”
His exhibit will be on display until March 28 and is sponsored in part by KMUW, Wichita’s National Public Radio member station.
