Wichita, KS- Friends University Bands will host its first-ever Pre-Festival Band clinic on March 25. Approximately 375 students from Andover, Haven, Hillsboro, Emporia and Wichita are expected to attend to gather feedback before the Kansas Large Group Music Festival in April.

Dr. Karen Fannin, Director of Bands at the University of Nebraska at Omaha will be the guest clinician for the event. Dr. Fannin earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Colorado and keeps an active schedule as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator.

“This event is designed to give bands an opportunity to perform contest literature in the festival format and receive feedback immediately following their performance,” said Shawn Knopp, Friends University’s new Director of Bands. “Bands will have ample time to return home with feedback from the clinician and make adjustments as necessary.”

Each ensemble will have 45 minutes to perform and work with Dr. Fannin and Knopp. The public is welcome to sit in on the performances which begin at 8 a.m. in Sebits Auditorium.
