Wichita, Kan. – The Friends University Jazz Department will present “A Day of Jazz”, virtually on Saturday, Oct. 10.
At the beginning of every hour between 1-7 p.m. audience members will get to hear a short set of music from a different Friends University Jazz band.
“In addition to hearing from favorites such as SOULstice and the Faculty Jazz Combo, patrons will get to hear the premiere of two new groups: Conjunto Latino de Friends University and The Swingin’ Quaker Jazz Ensemble,” said Director of Jazz Program, Dr. Robert Brooks.

1 p.m. – Carrithers Combo
Jazz combo led by Friends’ Jazz Bass Faculty, Seth Carrithers.
2 p.m. – Zellers Combo
Jazz combo led by Friends’ Jazz Guitar Faculty, Randy Zellers.
3 p.m. – SOULstice
Top jazz combo led by Director of Jazz Program and Professor of Saxophone, Dr. Robert Brooks.
4 p.m. – Friends University Jazz Faculty Combo
Featuring the Jazz Faculty at Friends University, Dr. Robert Brooks, Randy Zellers, Seth Carrithers, and Andy Slater.
5 p.m. – Friends University Jazz Vocal Ensemble
A full-size jazz vocal ensemble lead by Director of Jazz Program and Professor of Saxophone, Dr. Robert Brooks
6 p.m. – Conjunto Latino de Friends University
The premiere of Friends’ new jazz ensemble, Conjunto Latino. Co-directed by Andy Slater and Miguel Santana-Morales.
7 p.m. – The Swingin’ Quaker Jazz Ensemble
Friends’ flagship jazz ensemble with a new name to pay tribute to the amazing legacy of musical excellence at Friends University. Directed by Director of Jazz Program and Professor of Saxophone, Dr. Robert Brooks.
