Wichita, Kan. – Courtney Long, an active saxophonist, educator and clinician will be coming from Colorado to perform a free recital Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will feature a variety of classical/contemporary saxophone standards from yesterday to today.
“Funny enough, there is a theme to the pieces I will be performing! The concert will include works by Paule Maurice, Paul Bonneau and Paul Creston,” said performer, Courtney Long.
Courtney Long is an alumna of Friends University where she studied under Lisa Hittle, long-time jazz program director. She recently returned to her alma mater, the place where her saxophone career began, to teach lessons virtually for Friends students. Long holds a Doctor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Northern Colorado in Saxophone Performance with a secondary emphasis in Music Theory.
The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan., The concert is free but tickets are required at friends.edu/fineartstickets or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.
