Wichita, KS- Friends University Jazz Department is excited to host nationally recognized Adam Larson and his jazz trio in a free concert Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 at 7 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium.
“Adam Larson has been one of the brightest shooting stars of my generation,” said Friends University Jazz Director, Dr. Nick Schroeder. “For more than 15 years he has been a major creative force and bandleader in our realm of jazz. His star still shines just as bright today and I am thrilled to bring him to Friends University as part of his mega tour promoting his new trio projects.”
Adam Larson is an American saxophonist, composer, educator and author. He was a part of the vibrant NYC jazz scene for eleven years before relocating to the Kansas City-area in 2019. As a guest artist, Larson has been invited to present masterclasses on music business, improvisation and composition at more than 75 universities across the globe. Larson continues to perform with some of the greatest musicians in the genre and has recorded seven albums while maintaining a year-round touring schedule playing original music.
He is joined on stage with Clark Sommers on bass and John Kizilarmut on drums.
In addition to the performance, there will be a free masterclass open to the public on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. in Sebits Auditoirum.
