Wichita, Kan. – Friends University is excited to announce the upcoming performance of Catch Me If You Can, a high-flying musical comedy about chasing your dreams and not getting caught. The show will run from Feb. 3-5.
Seeking fame and fortune, precocious teenager, Frank Abagnale Jr., runs away from home to begin an unforgettable adventure. With nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination, and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer all while living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams… until the law catches up with him!
“This is a riveting, fast-paced show that will take the audience on a journey of self-identity and rediscovery,” said show director and Assistant Professor of Music Theatre and Dance, Sheldon Mba. “We’re thrilled about this production and the unique opportunity Friends students have had to be coached in this production by Rachel de Benedet, who originated the show’s role of Paula Abagnale on Broadway. We welcome all ages and walks of life to buckle up and take off with us and join us in the dynamic and exhilarating experience that is Catch Me If You Can.”
Nominated for four Tony awards, including Best Musical, this delightfully entertaining show was created by a Tony Award-winning “dream team,” with a book by Terrance McNally (The Full Monty, Ragtime) and a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray).
