Dr. John Simmons began teaching at Friends University in August 2016. Prior to Friends, he was an administrator and instructor at Hutchinson Community College. He has been published in several periodicals, including the American Journal of Physiology. Dr. Simmons’ research is in the area of cardiovascular physiology. He was honored as the Kansas Angel in Adoption in 2009 by the U.S. Congress for his work to raise awareness in international adoption. He served as a mentor for success with the Kansas Department of Corrections and started recovery programs at several campuses, and the Kansas governor honored him for his services in 2015. He started and operated the Central Kansas Baseball League, which provides competitive baseball for children in central and western Kansas.
