Andy Slater is an active percussionist/drummer in the Wichita area. Slater holds section percussion positions at The Wichita Symphony, Wichita Grand Opera, and Wichita Ballet. As a kit player, he performs regularly with groups including DAYDREAM, Flower Bottom, and ODISEA. All of which have full-length albums. As a concert percussionist, Slater has performed internationally in Canada and Italy as well as many states in the U.S. As an educator, Slater has held teaching positions at Wichita State, Butler Community College, and Hutchinson Community College and Friends University where he has served as Instructor of Percussion & Jazz Drumset since 2019. Slater is a regular clinician for KBA and KMEA where he presents masterclasses on percussion education.
Slater teaches private lessons, percussion ensemble, Latin Jazz, music history, and percussion techniques. He holds a B.M and M.M in Percussion Performance from Pittsburg State University and Wichita State University and is an education artist for Mapex/Majestic Percussion and Sabian Cymbals
