Cindy Thompson is the adjunct oboe instructor at Friends University, since 2013, and is a member of the Tower Woodwind Quintet. She is also the Instrumental Ensemble director and applied woodwinds instructor at Newman University and has taught oboe at Washburn University, Bethel College and Hesston College. A graduate of Wichita State University and the University of Akron, she has performed with the Lieurance Woodwind Quintet, Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Music Theater of Wichita, Opera Kansas, Wichita Grand Opera, Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony and the Robert Page Singers. She is the oboe soloist on many of composer John Leavitt’s recordings. Her primary teachers are Peggy Michel, Linda Strommen and James Ryon. She has attended workshops with John Mack, Elaine Douvas and Richard Woodhams. She teaches and freelances in the Wichita area.
