Music To Our Ears
In honor of the band concert and Jazz Festival this week, we are going back to 1905! The band of 35 members went to Goddard where they appeared in a concert as a number on the Lyceum Course given in that city. Professor Henry Restorff directed, composed and arranged for piano “The Friends University March” which could be secured for 25 cents.
Music has been a part of the curriculum of the college from the beginning. The orchestra and vocal groups performed for various organizations in the community, a tradition that still carries on today.
It was during this time that work began on opening the basement entrance under the big main entry to the Davis Administration Building where a cement floor was run in the basement.
