Wichita, Kan.- Five Kansas high school choirs will join the Friends University Singing Quakers, Concert Choir and other ensembles in the annual outreach event, Sing It! Vocal Festival. The educational event culminates into a showcase performance, open to the public, on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.
The Sing It! Vocal Festival features Friends University faculty and Dr. Brandon A. Boyd, guest conductor.
Dr. Brandon A. Boyd is the Assistant Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at the University of Missouri-Columbia where he teaches choral conducting and choral music education classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Boyd has earned three degrees, a Ph.D. and a Master’s from Florida State University, and a B.S. in Music Education from Tennessee State University. He has directed many community choirs in Florida. As an active composer and arranger, his music is sung regularly by ensembles throughout the United States and abroad.
The concert will also feature the high school winner of the Sing It! Vocal Festival masterclass competition.
Tickets are $6 for adultsand $3 for seniors and students. The performance will take place in the Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends University campus at 2100 W. University Ave., Wichita, Kan. Tickets may be purchased online at friends.edu/fineartstickets.
